As part of its efforts to counter disinformation campaigns, the world's largest social networking network, Facebook, has launched a system to validate images and video recordings.
Facebook will use autofill techniques and other technical tools to address images and videos that involve manipulation, AFP reported on Friday (June 22nd, 2018).
"One of the challenges to counteracting disinformation is that it is manifested in different ways depending on the types of content and countries," she said. "In the face of that, we tested the validation techniques of images and videos in four countries. This included manipulated images such as video synthesis to show something that did not really happen, or that was presented outside its context, as a picture of a previous tragedy attributed to a current conflict. '
She pointed out that the efforts to verify the facts on the network is now fourteen countries, a number is likely to increase this year. Independent partners are used to conduct checks that push Facebook to act against those responsible for false news
